About Us

ARISE FOR SOCIAL AND GENDER JUSTICE (ASGJ) is a Non-Profit Making Non-Governmental Organization in Zambia that addresses the needs of Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVCs) and marginalized women and girls in Zambia’s rural and urban communities through programs in education, health, shelter and empowerment.  We advocate for the rights of marginalized women and girls and promote gender equality and socioeconomic justice. We are committed to contributing to government efforts in ensuring that vulnerable communities in both rural and urban Zambia have access to basic needs that are not limited to Education, Health, Clean Water and Sanitation as well as Adolescent Sexual Reproductive Health Rights Education (ASRHRE) and Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM).

Our Vision

  • We envision thriving communities where marginalised women and girls, Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVCs) have access to basic human needs such as clean water and sanitation, education, and health. We see communities where gender equality, socioeconomic justice and human rights are fully lived and the protection against early and child marriages, HIV/AIDS/STIs, unintended teenage pregnancies, and Sexual Gender Based Violence is guaranteed. Where adolescents especially young women and girls (including those with disabilities) have access to Adolescent Sexual Reproductive Health Rights Education (ASRHRE) and Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM).
  • We see Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVCs) whose futures have been positively impacted by our works and services; children who have been holistically developed, empowered and fully developed to impact their communities positively.

Our Mission

  • To contribute to the creation of environments and communities where Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVCs) have access to basic needs such as shelter, education, health, clean water and sanitation, where vulnerable women and girls are fully empowered with life skills that enable them to contribute to the development of their families and communities.
  • To Advocate for the rights of the underserved women and girls especially in the areas of Health, Socio-Economic Justice, Gender Equality; provide high quality evidence based Adolescent Sexual Reproductive Health Education (ASRHE) and Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) to young people and those living with disabilities for the prevention and treatment of HIV/AIDS infections as well as ending Child Marriages and Sexual Gender Based Violence Against Women and Girls.
